Audio guides without the hardware — from $25 a month.

Visitors tap a tag or scan a code and listen on their own phone. No handsets to buy, charge or hand out. No app to download.

Send us your text or audio files and we'll produce the audio and ship you the labels — or print your own.

Wherever people stop to look, there's a story worth hearing

Audio guides used to mean handsets, staffing and a five-figure budget. Now they mean a label and the phone already in your visitor's pocket.

Hear what your visitors would hear

Scan this and you'll get a real audio guide segment — about two minutes, playing straight in your phone's browser. No app, no download, no account. It's exactly what someone gets standing in front of an exhibit, a piece of art, or anything else worth explaining.

Scan it again somewhere you'd actually put a code and you'll see how it performs on your signal, too.

We do the work. You stick the labels on.

Most places are up and running without anyone learning anything new.

  1. 1

    Send us what you have

Exhibit text, catalogue entries, a guidebook, a docent's script — or just record it on a phone. PDFs, Word files or audio.

Doing it yourself? Type or upload it in the dashboard.

  2. 2

    We produce the audio

Natural narration, about two minutes per code. Anything long we condense and send you the script to approve before we record.

Choose a male or female voice, American or British.

  3. 3

We print and ship the labels

Your codes arrive already printed — paper, weatherproof vinyl, or tap-to-listen NFC tags. Nothing to assemble.

Or download a print-ready PDF and run it yourself.

  4. 4

    Put them up

Visitors tap or scan and listen on their own phone. Add more codes whenever you're ready.

No app, no download, no account.

Pick a size. Add it up. That's the price.

One code is one thing you want to talk about — an artwork, an exhibit, a room, a point on a trail, a piece for sale.

50 codes, annual, with us producing the audio and vinyl labels:

$399 + $169 + $40 = $608 the first year, $399 after.

Doing it yourself on 30 codes: $299 a year, and nothing else.

Spanish: we can produce a Spanish version alongside your English, played from the same code — no extra label. You supply the Spanish text; we don't translate. Contact us for pricing.

Annual is ten months — two months free. Each recording runs about two to two and a half minutes.

Questions people ask

Do visitors need to download an app?+

No. They tap the tag or scan the code and the audio opens in their phone's browser. Nothing to install, no account, no sign-in.

Do visitors need wifi or a phone signal?+

Yes — the audio streams to their phone, so they'll need a mobile signal or your wifi. Audio files are small, so it works on a weak signal where heavier apps struggle. In practice this shapes where you put codes rather than whether you can have them; most places don't add audio to everything anyway.

What if our descriptions aren't written down?+

That's normal. Send whatever exists — a guidebook, catalogue entries, a script. Or have someone walk round and record short segments on a phone and send us the audio files.

How long is each recording?+

About two to two and a half minutes — the same range major museums use, and about as long as someone will stand and listen. For something that deserves more, use a second code for a deeper dive.

What if our text runs longer than that?+

We'll condense it and send you the script to approve before we record. Nothing gets published that you haven't seen.

Can we add codes later?+

Yes. Start with a few and add more whenever you're ready — your codes don't expire between exhibitions or seasons.

Which labels should we choose?+

Paper for indoor use in dry conditions. Vinyl where there's damp, handling or cleaning. NFC tags let visitors tap instead of scan — faster, and better in low light. Ours are anti-metal backed, so they work on cases and mounts, which most don't. Choose outdoor NFC where you'll mount with a screw or bolt, or where they're exposed to rain and snow.

Can we do the whole thing ourselves?+

Yes, and there's no setup fee if you do. Type your text in the dashboard or upload a PDF or Word file, generate the audio, download a print-ready PDF and run it on standard label sheets. Reprint free whenever you need to.

Do you offer other languages?+

We can produce a Spanish version alongside your English, played from the same code — visitors choose on screen, so there's no second label. You supply the Spanish text: we don't translate content, and the app doesn't translate it automatically. Contact us for pricing.

What if a label gets damaged?+

Tell us which one and we'll send replacements for a small fee. If you print your own, just run another sheet.

What happens if we don't renew?+

We'll remind you before your renewal is due. If a payment fails, your codes keep working for 30 days while we sort it out — we won't let the labels on your walls go quiet without telling you first. If you cancel, your guide runs to the end of the period you've paid for.

Can we get a refund?+

Any order can be cancelled within 24 hours for a full refund, labels included — just email support@storysignage.com. After that, monthly plans run to the end of the period you have paid for, annual plans are not refundable, and printed labels and NFC tags cannot be returned because they are made for your specific codes. Full details on our refund policy page.

Can we move up a size, or switch to annual billing?+

Yes — email support@storysignage.com and we will sort it out. We handle size changes by hand because a bigger plan also means more labels to print and send you, and we would rather get those to you at the same time as the extra codes. We do not move guides down a size: your existing labels are already on walls, and dropping a size would switch some of them off while leaving others working.
